I put my iPod on shuffle and give the first lines of the songs that come up. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to guess the song name and artist. If you google you are a great big cheater.
  1. Here's something new, I think I'll give it a try. Come closer you, I like to see what I buy. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] morbid_sparks
  2. When you move in right up close to me, that's when I get the shakes all over me.
  3. If you're a hobbit and you know it clap your hands.
  4. Red and orange, or red and yellow? In which of these do you believe?
  5. I can turn a grey sky blue; I can make it rain whenever I want it to.
  6. Underneath these stairs I hear the sneers and feel the glares of my cousin, my uncle, and my aunt.
  7. Steve walks warily down the street with the brim pulled way down low.
  8. This ain't a song for the broken-hearted. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] morbid_sparks
  9. When I was a kid I played on the street; I always loved illusion.
  10. When the Devil is too busy and death's a bit too much, they call on me, by name you see, for my special touch.
  11. Any dolt with half a brain can see that humankind has gone insane. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] tarpy
  12. When it began, I can't begin to know when, but then I know it's growin' strong.
  13. Look, I find some of what you teach suspect, because I'm used to relying on intellect. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] morbid_sparks
  14. It was Christmas Eve, babe, in the drunk tank.
  15. Now you all know the bards and their songs.
  16. Lay down your sweet and weary head. Night is falling, you have come to journey's end. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] nazgul_number_7

Hmmm, I thought the first line of Lovely Ladies was 'I smell women, smell 'em in the air'? Or is that a different version?

It's from that, you know, bit. I don't know what the actual track on the actual CD is called, but "Lovely Ladies" works better than "That Bit Where The Guy Shows Up And Is A Bastard."

I don't know the exact name of the song, but 11 is from Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog - 'On the Rise', perhaps?
19 is Tom Lehrer's Elements song (I have his complete works if you want anything)
And I don't really know the song, or what it might be called, but I'm certain 20 is from Spamalot

11 and 19 are correct. 20 is not from Spamalot, though now you mention it, it reminds me of The Song That Goes Like This.
