Feb. 15th, 2005 12:12 pmI. Hate. AOL. Broadband. So. Very. Very. Much. The sodding thing won't sodding well connect to the sodding phone line in our sodding house and the sodding non-broadband version doesn't sodding well work any more so we have to sodding wait until sodding Friday before the sodding man will fix our sodding phone line. *stabs* As soon as it's fixed I'll read all your journals, if I don't get the chance to in the hour I have on this library computer. I was reading a book on Henry VIII's wives (Yes, I know who Anne Boleyn is now) and then I saw the words 'Internet Access', and fwoom! So, I'm online. Hopefully permanently, come Friday.
WE FOUND TIM TAMS AT THE SUPERMARKET OH MY GOD! We bought three packets. They had normal and caremel and chewey fudge but we just got three packets of normal. The entire shop must have thought we were loonies because we were screaming loud enough to wake the dead. So when Becka and Leigh come to England you'll be able to eat Tim Tams, too! whoo! A woman from Canada came to work with Mum in the chiropractors when we were in Karratha, and she ate a pack a day while she was in Australia. And took a CRATE home with her.
It snowed again today. It stuck in patches, about three millimeters thick, but then it started raining at us, so that bought that to an end pretty quickly.
School is alright. They don't give much homework. They're all doing coursework at the moment, which is like school projects, or something. The girls are friendly. I've been invited to a party tonight. They've rented out one of those kids playgrounds, with the ball pits and things, you know? It's a joined birthday party for a girl in my class and a girl from another school.
The TV reception in the house is dodgy, despite the two satelite dishes sticking out of the roof. We can't get Channel 4, which is the one with the Simpsons on it, so that's not such a bad thing- the siblings are quoting the Simpsons less and less. We still get all the other channels, with CSI, and Deizel and Pascoe, and those sort of shows, so it's alright. We're going to get one of those digital top boxes or whatever so it'll work better.
Mum's just called to say I have to meet her at the bank so I can get a bank account. I have a bank account! I've never had a bank account before! This is new for me! But it's only half past twelve and I've got until one on this computer. So I'm meeting her at home and we'll have lunch and then we'll get me a bank account! With a credit card, and stuff! This will be so cool!
Back to school- the girls are rather... uncultured. The moment they know I'm Australian, it's "Do you watch Neighbors and Home and Away?" Erica watches Neighbors, so I had a fair idea of what's going on, although they're about thirty episodes behind us, so I had a bit of fun with that. "Well, so-and-so has AIDS, and the resturaunt burns down with these people trapped inside, etc." BUT.
ME: So, are there any Lord of the Rings fans?
Dead silence.
ONE GIRL: *raises hand* I've seen all three movies.
LATER
ME: *some Monty Python quote*
NO ONE: *gets the joke*
ME: ... Does anyone like Monty Python?
Dead silence.
I think I'm going to die. If the internet does not work, I'm going to be cut off from you people. I'll have NO ONE to talk to. I'll go mad. I won't be able to read your livejournals or chat or look at your links or icons or fanfics- Oh my god. I won't be able to read any more of Replica Ring. I'll go mad. This internet had better work.
Um. There was a bunch of stuff I had made a mental note to write about, but my mental post-its usually aren't very sticky. Oh, well.
We got Shark Tale on the weekend. We got our carpets cleaned yesterday. On Thursday our stuff should arrive so we kids are going out to the movies so we're not in the way, and we're watching "The Magic Roundabout" because it has Sir Ian McKellen as a wizard (ha ha) who looks like one of those jack-in-the-box people on a spring, and Bill Nighy who played Sam in the BBC LotR radio play, and Robbie Williams, and... Um... That Australian singer... what's her name? She played that fairy in Moulin Rouge.
Oh, France! That's it! For Mum and Erica's birthdays, we're going to Disneyland Paris. We're staying in a motel inside the actual Disneyland park thing. Dad'll be in Florence or Milan or somewhere on business, so Erica will not be able to wimp out on the scary rides like she did last time. Well, she had a broken arm, so that was her excuse, but still.
The McDonalds and KFCs and takeaways here don't have drive throughs. They aren't even separate buildings, they're just delved into the side of a wall along with three hundred other shops. We don't get shopping complexes here, everything's out in the open, like the Hay Street and Murray Street mall.
Well, my time's about up. Best wishes to everyone, I miss you all heaps, especially since I can't go on the net RAUGH! Bye, all. Reply in the hope that I will be able to read your replies.

Date: 2005-02-15 05:46 am (UTC)And I can't believe the Brits don't know about Monty Python! It bloody well originated there! Blimey.
I hope your internet works too, although you've got some time to get it working before more Replica Ring comes out--I'm afraid college has become a bit hectic. Two papers due in the span of a week=no time to write fanfic.

Date: 2005-02-15 08:49 am (UTC)Totally. Except... yeah. I'm just trying to average 7 hours of sleep per night... any "free time" (mysterious phrase) is napping lately.
